Well I tried a knockoff driver (Sumo 2) and it wasn't that bad but I believe something has broken in the head so I am done with knockoffs.  I'm thinking about trying out a Taylormade Burner driver.  Golf Galaxy has them right now for 199.  Anybody have any opinions or suggestions?

I'm not sure about the burner drivers, but my buddy adam just picked up a Taylormade R7 superquad and seems to really like it.  Have been kicking around the idea of the burner too though, let me know what you end up finding out.

well after looking around some more, I've really started thinking about the Nike SQ 5000.  Reviews have it rated better than the R7 and Burner (as far as forgiveness).  Right now that's what I need lol.  I don't know though.  Need to wait until I get some money saved first.

Check out rockbottomgolf.com.  I've ordered a few things from there and would recommend them.

I took every driver considered to be "top of the line" to the range so I could get a good idea of which one was best for me...(Callaway, Cleveland, Nike, Titleist, Tay/Made, Ping, Nickent)

The Taylor Made R-7 was far and away the best!!! Best control, fewer mishits, solid feel, distance on hits not quite on the sweetspot....(not partial to TM, in fact it's the only club I have)...the burner isn't even close either. AND you don't have to go with these new 'GIANT" club heads, the 400cc is plenty and less than $200.

but keep in mind, the proper shaft is "more" important than the clubhead...these OEM shafts don't get it.

I was always a Callaway/Titleist man, with Cleveland wedges...I wouldn't have taken 2 of any other drivers brand new, over the used R-7 I bought.

I never updated this...about a month ago I went ahead and got the Taylormade Tour Burner 08 driver, golf galaxy had it down to 129.99 for Fathers Day.  Man I love this driver.  I've been hitting it pretty good (about 280) and even mishits go 240 yds straight down the pipe.  My old driver was about 240 - 250 yds on a clean hit.

Glad to see that worked out for you Steve.  I've been looking at that same driver, but something else always comes up.  *L*
